President Brian Kalab called the meeting to order.
Butch Martin opened with devotions.

Pastor Kutzke’s Report: Health concerns were expressed for Darwin Bergeson.
There was one funerals last month and one scheduled for June 19. There will be a baptism on the 13th. Pastor will be at a wedding June 26 in Wisconsin and Ryan Brown will be leading services on June 27th. ‘Friends of the Carpenter’ will be here July 25th, and the ‘Gideons’ will be here August 15th. There is a diverse group of new members.
The job description for pastoral staff is very thorough. Pastor wants to use his best gifts to serve the congregation.
Treasurer s Report: Butch shared that we were $61,725 behind in giving and about $10,000 in the red in the general fund. Expenses are still being kept down.
Committee Reports:
Wilcox Property - Roy reported the the 130 acres of the Wilcox property in Kitsap County are undeveloped parcels. An attorney reviewed the proposal from a logging company that wanted to selectively log the property. There appeared to be some red flags in the company s proposal and the attorney recommended to reject this proposal. Roy moved to reject the current proposal to selectively log the Wilcox parcels in Kitsap County. Motion seconded. Call for question, motion carried.
Children s Ministry - Kylene said that here will be a VBS meeting June 9 at 5:00. There will be a limit of 300 children.
Property and Grounds - Dave expressed the need to replace the boiler. The building fund has about $16,000 available in a CD. An estimate of up to $40,000 was given to replace it. a new boiler will run close to 98% efficiency. A question of using Wilcox property money as well as a question of donating money towards the boiler from other committees was raised. Wilcox Property money must be approved of by the congregation. Roy Wenzel moved to go to the congregation to ask for a $24,000 cap from the Wilcox Property fund for a new boiler. Motion seconded. Call for question. Motion carried.
Vision - Rod Vereb presented the purpose statement with the emphasis on to become disciples of men. He shared the four goals:
- Growth in faith
- Vitalizing Worship
- Increase Participation in Ministry and
- Mission Effective , Positive Communication
He and the vision committee asked for the council to be conduits and to help flesh out the goals . The faster we can work on this, the better for our congregation. He and the committee asked for the council to take ownership of the document and to affirm it. After discussion, there were four options regarding the goals and guiding principles.
1) Do nothing 2) Four members of council and four members of vision team work together to take action to flesh out details 3) Vision planning team continue and take action to flesh out and implement ideas 4) Council take over
David made a motion to approve the purpose, goals, and guiding principles as presented and to have the vision team continue to work to elaborate further on the purpose, goals and guiding principles. Motion seconded. After a discussion, there was a suggestion for a covenant agreement with the council. Dave removed his motion.
Butch moved to accept and affirm the purpose, goals, and guiding principles as presented. Motion seconded. Call for question. Motion carried.
Butch moved to empower vision team to elaborate upon and implement the purpose, goals and guiding principles contingent upon mutually agreed upon covenants between vision team and council. Motion seconded. Call for question. Motion carried.
Congregational meeting is set for July 18th to approve using up to $24,000 for the boiler replacement, and to discuss the budget report and recommendations. Potluck will be served at noon, and we will try to offer childcare.
The finance committee s next steps are to have Brian and Jeff meet with the staff. The committee and council will meet on June 15th to look for further cuts and how to be good stewards.
Kylene will open July 13th.
