President Brian Kalab called the meeting to order.
Dick Wendt opened in prayer.
Pastor Shoup led us through the second part of the council retreat that focused on understanding how we each function to help us as we work together. After taking a personality inventory, each member looked at where we were on continuums of four different functions:
Extrovert / Introvert
Senses / Intuition
Thinking / Feeling
Judging / Perceiving
Pastor Wendt shared frustrations with the significance of worship and scheduling. The process of vision and change seems to not be moving fast enough. But the most important issue right now is leadership and how we function as a faith community. Pastor Wendt handed us information on Essentials for a Congregation to Become More Effective and Shape of Congregations in the Future.
Our focus is to make disciples of men and to nourish those who are disciples. We need to love our neighbors. How do we organize around spiritual gifts?
Respectfully submitted,
Jennifer Tanner
June 15, 2010 Council Special Meeting Minutes
June 15, 2010 minutes for special council meeting regarding budget.

Finance team s recommendations were discussed. Jeff reminded us that we need to make staffing decisions in the best interest of the mission of the church, not in the best interest of the budget. The council was informed of giving amounts from January to June 15th based on amounts received in envelopes.
After lengthy discussion, Jeff Whitehead moved to accept a plan that would use up to $3,475 from the Wilcox Property fund for the monthly mortgage for the rest of the year, ask the congregation to increase giving financially and/or by volunteering, the church council is committed to increase giving, to take away the COLA for staff (2% decrease over next six months) with the understanding that the COLA would be the first thing to be reinstated if giving increases, increase facility fees to accurately reflect expenses, and to freeze discretionary spending. Motion seconded and passed with Roy Wenzel, Pastor Kutzke, and Butch Martin abstaining.
This proposal will be presented at the July 18th congregational meeting.
Pastor led us in prayer to close.
Respectfully submitted,
Jennifer Tanner
